DESCRIPTION:Jazz – Hip Hop – Soul – Funk – Latin \nDirty Hairy / Matt Davies.\nHairy is a man that loves the world\, tea\, Jazz and records.\nHe began DJ’ing and fumbling around with drum machine samplers around 1996 and in 1999 he grew his first beard.\nA seasoned underground veteran on the International DJ circuit having been based in Croatia for 9 years. During those times he toured with established artists and kept a steady volume of solo gigs and residencies happening. Regularly embarking on wild record digging excursions\, he loves nothing more than to sniff out forgotten or long lost records and chuck them about the world. ( regularly in DJ sets ) Hairy has played and dug records in New Zealand\, UK\, France\, Holland\, Austria\, Slovenia\, Hungary\, Croatia\, Serbia\, Bosnia & Hercegovina\, and Macedonia. On the journey Hairy has supported and opened for GZA ( Wu Tang ) Sean Price\, J Live\, One Be Lo\, Statik Selektah\, Edan & Patton Locke\, DJ Format\, Florian Keller\, Rob Life\, Kamui Sumida\, DLT\, King Kapisi amongst a plethroa of others. Currently residing in New Zealand and working up and down the country he still gets excited about records. His DJ sets range from multi genre dance floor burners to sitting deep in one genre all night. Hairy dives into into European breaks\, Funk\, Soul\, Rock\, Schlager\, Cumbia\, Jerk\, Gypsy\, Jazz\, Tropical\, Afro\, Boogie\, Salsa oddities\, Funky\, Jazzy House\, Break Beat\, Future Jazz\, Freak Beat and related.\n\nAs a producer Hairy started in the mid 90s making countless home recordings to tape and minidisc of his approach to hip hop and jazz/funk related sounds. With the arrival of an MPC Drum machine sampler in 1997 he started to craft beats inspired New York inspired hip hop. As he advanced with instruments and musical knowledge the sound became more jazzy with elements of funk and soul. Since 2004 he’s established himself as an internally known Hip Hop producer\, with a string of vinyl releases that continues to grow.\n\nHaving 4 #1 Hit singles on MTV with Croatian Hip Hop artists Hairy has produced music that has been released with artists in USA\, UK\, France\, Italy\, Slovenia\, Croatia\, Bosnia\, Macedonia\, Romania\, New Zealand. Alongside performances on TV and radio he remains active as a producer\, DJ\, mentor and drinker of some of the finest tea leaves known to humankind.\n\nSpanning a 20 + year career Hairy still remains active in the music scene working hard to uncover lost music and travelling the globe to bring spread joy in the form of vinyl plates.
